Cardio-Oncology is the assessment and care of cancer patients with heart disease. Our Cardio-Oncology service was developed to provide world-class cardiac care to cancer patients in east London and beyond.

We have reviewed current practice and carried out Quality of Service surveys to ensure that our service meets the expectations of patients and referring doctors.

Our clinics

We aim to prevent the cardiac complications associated with many cancer treatments (chemotherapy and radiotherapy) and also to treat cancer patients who have pre-existing cardiac problems. We run clinics on Tuesdays and Fridays at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, in The City of London.

The Tuesday Cardio-Oncology clinic is a comprehensive “one-stop” clinic with advanced imaging (echocardiography and cardiac MRI) on the day as required.

Patients can contact the cardio-oncology secretaries on 02037658835 for more information/to change their appointment.

Why choose us

We have grown into the UK’s largest Cardio-Oncology service and see an average of 20 patients a week with a variety of complex cardiac and cancer problems. We currently see patients referred from a variety of hospitals across the region and aim to see patients the same week as referral, with same-day feedback on urgent cases. We liaise closely with our Oncology and Haemato-Oncology colleagues via a weekly Multidisciplinary Team meeting to ensure optimal patient care.

Our research

We aim to enrol all patients in the Barts Cardiovascular Registry to further research in the developing field of Cardio-Oncology.

A number of research projects are currently being undertaken in Cardio-Oncology. Data from these projects have been presented at international conferences.

Consultants in Cardio-Oncology have presented locally, nationally and internationally on Cardio-Oncology and have also published in the field.

We are passionate about education and training and have established a Cardio-Oncology training fellowship programme for trainee doctors.

For clinicians

Patients can be referred for review by the Barts Health Cardio-Oncology service by emailing

In addition, the Cardio-Oncology consultants Dr Charlotte Manisty (Clinical Lead) and Dr Arjun Ghosh can be contacted for urgent advice via switchboard.

In addition to the outpatient service we provide inpatient reviews for Cardio-Oncology patients.

We have also established a weekly Cardio-Oncology MDT for discussion of complex cases with our Oncology and Haemato-Oncology colleagues. Patients can be referred for MDT discussion by emailing
