Dr Simon Ashkaan Tavabie

Consultant at Whipps Cross Hospital

Dr Simon Tavabie is the Consultant in Palliative Medicine for the Margaret Centre inpatient specialist palliative care unit and the Waltham Forest Community Specialist Palliative Care team.

He qualified in 2013 from Hull York Medical School with honours. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Neurosciences from Kings College London and a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education from the University of Sussex. His postgraduate training was initially on the South Coast before entering the London specialist palliative medicine training programme. 

He has published extensively particularly in employing formal service evaluation methodologies to palliative and end of life care most notably within health economics of early supportive care in cancer and in hospital based end of life care. Seeking Excellence in End of Life Care UK was the first ever prospective evaluation of the care of dying people in hospitals and has helped us better understand the barriers to good care, and ways to improve for patients across the United Kingdom.
