Sarah Teather

Sarah Teather is director of the Jesuit Refugee Service UK – a charity based in Tower Hamlets offering advice and support to refugees and asylum seekers across London. Sarah joined JRS UK after working with the advocacy team of JRS international, a role which took her to see projects supporting refugees all over the world. 

Prior to joining JRS, Sarah was MP for Brent Central (previously named Brent East) for 12 years, including serving as the Minister for Children and Families, where her responsibilities focused on support for families in poverty or difficulty, the early years of a child's life, and provision for children and young people with a disability or special educational needs.  

Sarah sits on the quality assurance committee and has a particular interest in patient experience of healthcare, health inequalities and engagement with excluded communities.
