Working at Whipps Cross University Hospital

Whipps Cross is one of our district general hospitals ideally located on the edge of Epping Forest, in between Walthamstow Central, Leytonstone and Snaresbrook stations.

Our work

First opening over a hundred years ago, our team at Whipps Cross have one of the busiest A&E departments in the country with more than 152,000 patients attending each year. Other departments are just as busy with over 77,000 inpatient stays and 381,000 outpatient appointments.

The team at Whipps Cross work with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and no two days are the same. We have developed a strong reputation as a centre of excellence for various specialist services such as urology, ENT, audiology, cardiology, colorectal surgery, cancer care and acute stroke care.

Your career

There is a strong commitment to sharing skills and staff tend to stay for many years at Whipps Cross because they have so many opportunities to develop themselves. The leadership team is visible and we are particularly good at turning feedback into meaningful improvement.

Having faced challenges in the past, Whipps Cross has improved rapidly, as recognised in our recent CQC report. With our passionate staff, and commitment to safe and compassionate care, we know Whipps Cross will keep getting better and better, and we’d love you to join us on the journey.
