Research interests

Dr Perkins leads research on the use of predictive analytics and artificial intelligence to support decision-making in trauma care. His work focuses on the development, validation, and real-world evaluation of clinical decision-support systems, particularly during the early phases of trauma resuscitation.

He applies Bayesian networks and machine learning to improve situational awareness and guide time-critical decisions, including those related to trauma resuscitation and the management of severe lower limb injuries.

He also has a major interest in prehospital trauma resuscitation, with a focus on the early physiological response to injury and the resuscitation of major haemorrhage and cardiac tamponade.

A full list of his publications is available via Google Scholar.
