We offer medical imaging and diagnostic services, ranging from routine x-rays to specialist scans and interventional procedures such as angioplasties, as well as medical imaging.

Cardiac imaging

Our award-winning cardiac imaging service is one of the largest units of its kind in Europe.

Cardiac imaging uses CT and MRI scans of the heart to diagnose various conditions.

Our dedicated team are committed to providing an excellent level of service, using research to develop the latest techniques.

The service, which is regularly audited to maintain high standards of care, calls on the support of our world-leading consultant cardiologists.

In a caring environment

We know that coming into hospital for an x-ray or scan can be daunting.

Every procedure is different but you’ll be kept fully informed of what is going to happen before, during and after the tests.

We use advanced technology that enables x-rays and scans to be stored electronically and viewed on a computer monitor rather than on a lightbox, helping to improve both the quality and speed of your treatment.

Please note: if you are diabetic, particularly if you take Metformin, please let us know in advance so that we can make special arrangements.

Refer to our services

We accept referrals from GPs, community providers and private care.

Please refer to our services via tQuest. If you do not have access to tQuest, please complete a paper referral for Dexa scans [doc] 100KB and Imaging services [pdf] 82KB.

St Bartholomew’s Hospital

We offer:

Radiology (including ultrasound, CT and MRI scanning)
Cardiac angiography
Nuclear medicine and PET CT scans
Breast screening and symptomatic breast radiology
Interventional radiology

Opening times

We are open between 9.00am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, for most scans.

We offer extended opening hours for MRI, CT and US (8.00am to 8.00pm), including weekends, on an ad hoc basis.

The x-ray service operates on a walk in basis. You can book an appointment at the imaging reception between 9am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Whipps Cross Hospital

If you require an x-ray, we offer a walk-in service. For all other scans, please book an appointment in advance by phoning our team.
