Essentials to bring

Bring these items so we can care for you safely

Please bring your medicines with you if you are staying in hospital, or a list of your medicines if you are coming for an appointment. This should include:

  • Medicines prescribed by your GP
  • Any over-the-counter medicines you buy from a pharmacy
  • Any herbal or homeopathic remedies

If you are staying overnight, bring a small bag with toiletries, nightclothes, a dressing gown and well-fitting slippers. Light, comfortable day clothes can also help you feel at ease around the ward.

Non-essentials and things to pass the timeĀ

Comforts from home

A few familiar things can help pass the time

You may like to bring a book, magazine, puzzle or small game.

We provide food and drink, but you are welcome to bring light snacks such as fruit, biscuits or cordial.

Please keep in mind that space is limited. Inpatients have a small bedside locker, so only bring what you can fit in a small bag.

Money and valuables

Please avoid bringing expensive items

We recommend that you don’t bring large amounts of money, jewellery or valuable items with you.

If you do need to bring something of value, please let a member of staff know — they can arrange for it to be stored safely and give you a receipt.

Please note: laptops or tablets such as iPads cannot be stored in the safe.

We cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal property.
