Cheers to our hero

We’ve thrilled to announce Ajay Sonahee, a nurse in our Heather Ward, as our Hero of the Month for February. Ajay is the first person to receive this award, which is part of our revamped staff recognition awards

Ajay was nominated by three patients who all praised him for his ‘kind and polite’ attitude and for always going above and beyond for his patients.

One of his nominators said:

“My dad was admitted to Heather Ward, and I was very worried about him. Nurse Ajay was very helpful and respectful – he spoke with a soft voice and reassured me that my dad will be well looked after on this ward. I was amazed by how all the staff looked after him, and I would like to say a big thank you to Ajay for reassuring me.”

Speaking on Ajay’s nominations, Simon Ashton, our chief executive, said:

“Ajay’s caring and compassionate attitude not just towards his patients, but also with their loved ones goes to show just how much he showcases our WeCare values in his work.

“Our patients are our priority and to hear about the positive experiences so many had under Ajay’s care makes me especially proud. Congratulations and excellent work Ajay!”

In case you’re not aware, we’ve recently rebranded our Star of the Month awards to now be called Hero of the Month. The awards are still all about acknowledging and celebrating our colleagues for the amazing work they do but made bigger and better! Find out more about what these changes are
