The Royal London and Mile End hospitals welcomes Helen Aaron, director of people to its senior leadership team.

Beginning her career as a HR graduate at Ford Motor Company, Helen brings over 20 years of private and public sector experience in people and HR management. Her first NHS role was six years ago at Basildon Hospital, where she was the associate director for workforce. In 2022 she completed the Aspiring Deputy Director programme and secured the role of deputy chief people officer at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust.

Helen replaces Lisa Anastasiou who has been our interim director of people for the past six months, following the departure of Sally Quinn at the end of 2023.

In her spare time, Helen is an avid greetings card maker, likes the theatre and international travel. She is also an auntie to four nieces and nephews.

On joining The Royal London and Mile End hospitals, Helen said:  “I am looking forward to this challenging yet rewarding role in a well-respected hospital. I am eager to get to know our diverse workforce and help shape our people priorities to make our hospitals an outstanding place to work.”

Neil Ashman chief executive of The Royal London and Mile End hospitals welcomes her to the team:

Helen will be a brilliant new member of our leadership team. She stood out amongst a strong set of candidates and will bring a fresh outlook to our hospital. I would also like to thank Lisa Anastasiou for supporting as interim over the last six months.”
