Building confidence with self-defence

Self defence sessions are being delivered at The Royal London Hospital as part of our staff wellbeing offer.

Staff at The Royal London Hospital are building confidence, awareness and practical skills through self-defence sessions, delivered as part of our staff wellbeing offer.

The sessions are delivered by Joe McPhoy, who has 15-years experience in the health and fitness industry.

Each week, a group of colleagues from across the hospital take part in an hour-long session after work and feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

“Excellent session - everything was clear, easy to follow and simple to put into practice. I walked away with genuinely useful skills that I can apply straight away.”

“It was a great session, Joe did an excellent job putting everyone at ease. Thank you so much for this opportunity, I’m genuinely grateful. The wellbeing team is doing a fantastic job.”

“Fab! Loved learning new skills and focusing on my physical wellbeing, feeling energised and motivated.”

“The coach was incredibly informative, I genuinely enjoyed the session. It’s already helping me build confidence.”

Thanks to Joe’s supportive approach, colleagues have already learnt techniques that can be used straight away, both at work and beyond.

Due to a high level of interest, registration for this 6-week cohort is now closed. We are currently exploring additional options for future sessions and will share further information soon.
