New leaders appointed to The Royal London Hospital's Executive Board
We are pleased to welcome two new Divisional Directors to the Royal London Hospital Executive Board. With deep operational knowledge, strong clinical leadership and a shared commitment to high-quality patient care, Tom Cornwell and Dr Madeleine Dancey will play a key role in leading their divisions and supporting our staff as we continue to deliver safe, resilient services for our communities.

About
- Tom Cornwell has been appointed as Divisional Director for Emergency Care and Trauma. He brings over 15 years of experience in NHS management, spanning both commissioning and acute services. Tom began his NHS career in a range of frontline administrative roles, including complaints coordinator, outpatient coordinator and medical secretary, giving him a strong grounding in operational delivery and patient experience. He has most recently worked as Divisional Director of Operations for the Emergency Care and Trauma Division, and takes on this role with a strong understanding of the division’s priorities. With the recent addition of the Imaging Directorate, Tom has a clear grasp of the expanded portfolio and a continued focus on delivering high-quality, resilient services.
- Dr Madeleine Dancey has been appointed as Divisional Director for Surgery. She has been a Consultant Anaesthetist at the Royal London Hospital since 2005. During her anaesthetics career she has held senior leadership roles including Clinical Director for Perioperative Medicine, Pain and Adult Critical Care, and has previously served as the Clinical Lead for Anaesthesia and a Foundation Training Programme Director.
