New role for Royal London's deputy nursing director
After three years at The Royal London Hospital, Simmi Naidu, our Deputy Director of Nursing and Director of Inclusion, will be leaving to take up the role of Chief Nurse and Executive Director of Allied Health Professionals at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
During her time at the Trust, she has led on key areas including quality, governance, patient experience, equity, and inclusion. Her leadership has helped shape a culture focused on compassion, safety, and improving the experience of both patients and staff.
One of her early priorities after joining the Trust was leading the unpaid carers workstream, a programme she brought into The Royal London to ensure patients benefit from wraparound support and advocacy beyond their clinical care.
Reflecting on her time at Barts Health, Simmi said: “I have been a nurse for almost 30 years, working across different continents and health systems, and bringing with me a broad and compassionate perspective on care and leadership. For me, nursing has always been about people. I believe that everyone has the right to outstanding healthcare, and that the best care happens when patients feel truly seen, supported, and empowered."
Neil Ashman, Chief Executive of The Royal London Hospital, said “Simmi has made a huge impact during her time with us. Her leadership, compassion, and commitment to improving patient and staff experience have strengthened our hospital in countless ways. We are incredibly grateful for everything she has achieved, and while we will miss her greatly, we are delighted to see her take on this well-deserved Chief Nurse role.”
Simmi will take up her new role in March 2026. Further information about her successor will be shared soon.v
