Power outage at the Royal London Hospital
Update as of 14:05
Power has now been restored across our hospital and all functions are working as normal, thanks to the hard work of everyone involved.
Our Estates team have identified and fixed the electrical issue, and as a result we are no longer in a Critical Incident.
Our emergency services and planned care is continuing as normal, so patients are asked to attend their appointments.
Thank you to all staff who went above and beyond this morning for your support, while we worked to restore services safely for patients.
Update as of 11:30
As a result of an unexpected power outage at 09:00 today (Friday 23 Jan), The Royal London Hospital as part of Barts Health NHS Trust has declared a Critical Incident.
The hospital is safe and our staff are working hard to continuing providing care for patients, but the electrical issue has impacted a number of critical functions.
We expect some services will be affected today and there may be cancellations, but patients are asked to attend their appointments unless they have been contacted by us.
Our on-site teams are working hard to fix the issue and some power has now been restored.
We will keep you updated with any developments.
