Cementing our key mile stones for the next ten years

We have set out our key milestones from now until 2035 as we look towards implementing the NHS 10-year plan.
We are on an ambitious journey to achieve goals set out in our group operational plan and our own clinical strategy.
Part of this journey will be how the Trust can harness the potential of innovation to bring about transformational change and thereby put us on sustainable footing for the future.
Our aim is to work better, smarter, and leverage our scale as a group of hospitals to generate the maximum benefit for staff and patients. Transforming the way, we work in the long-term is the key to overcoming these short-term pressures.
From an operational perspective; networking clinical services to create a single point of access would put patients on a faster clinical pathway for specialist services while we will also look to improve productivity in outpatients through digital mail and patients scheduling their own appointments.
Clinical examples where we are already improving productivity also include:
- More elective activities in normal hours so we don’t have to run expensive theatres at weekends to catch up.
- Switching more procedures to day cases or outpatient clinics so patients don’t need to stay in hospital overnight.
- Driving digitally supported care and empowering patients through new technology like virtual wards and remote monitoring.
