Security and reception teams join Barts Health today

We offered a warm welcome to security and reception teams that joined Barts Health today from Serco.

Earlier this year, we made a decision to bring our soft facilities services back in-house. Today marks the start of this transition with 135 people joining the trust.

"We are so pleased to welcome our security and reception teams into the NHS today," said Mark Bagnall, director of estates and facilities.

Phone lines and numbers will remain unchanged, and you can contact teams in the usual way.

A further 1,600 people from Serco will join the trust next year in key roles including portering, cleaning and domestics.

Following the transition of employment from Serco to the trust, we will work with teams to make improvements to the way our soft facilities services operate to improve the experience for patients, visitors and staff.

Hello and welcome to all our Security and Reception colleagues! The three Unison Branches at Barts Health are very proud of the role we played in negotiating with the Trust to bring Serco staff back in house. If you have any questions about transfer or need any support, please email: bartshealth.unisonbranch@nhs.net.
The other good news is that now you are directly employed by the NHS if you are a Unison member you can vote in in the national postal ballot on NHS pay. You can find out more here: https://www.nhspay.org/. You can also visit our stalls at the sites over the next few weeks; more details will be in the emails you receive from your Branch. The ballot closes on November 25th.

This is a big thank you to Repon, the security officer in the Turner Street security office. So much happening, but never late than never. 6 months' ago my car was broken into at night outside the hospital (my mum was in hospital having had a stroke). It was late and unsafe and he ensured my safety until the RAC turned up in the early hours of the morning and my taxi home (after hours of waiting !!!!!). Restored my faith in human nature and reminded me that there are good people out there. Thank you so much Repon.
