New procurement partnership to boost value for money and local impact

Map of north east London area

NHS trusts across north east London have formally come together in a new procurement partnership aimed at getting better value for money for the NHS, improving consistency across services and delivering wider benefits for local communities.

The North East London Procurement Partnership (NELPP) went live on 1 January 2026, bringing together procurement and supply chain teams into a single partnership hosted by Barts Health NHS Trust.

By working as one team, the partnership will reduce duplication, make better use of collective buying power and help ensure hospitals and services across north east London receive a more consistent procurement service. Over time, it will also support clearer, more joined-up relationships with suppliers.

Brad Day, interim managing director of NELPP, said: "By bringing our teams together, we can make every pound go further. This partnership allows us to be more consistent, more strategic and more ambitious in what we buy and in the difference procurement can make for patients and communities."

The partnership is already delivering meaningful social value by using the NHS’s role as one of the largest local buyers to support communities across north east London. When NHS organisations spend money locally, it helps create and sustain jobs, supports small and diverse businesses, and keeps more investment within the local economy.

Across recent contracts, we awarded 68 contracts worth more than £300m, securing almost £40m in wider community benefits, including local employment opportunities, support for small suppliers, action on climate change and improved workforce wellbeing.

From 1 January, procurement staff from East London NHS Foundation Trust, North East London NHS Foundation Trust, Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust came together under Barts Health as the host organisation for the Procurement Partnership. Aside from a change in payroll, there are no immediate changes for staff or suppliers, with existing contracts and contacts remaining in place while the future operating model is developed over the next year.

All orders now go through Oracle. If you had weekly or monthly standing orders through NHS Supplies, these have now stopped and you will need to order as required through Oracle. Found this out yesterday.

Please continue to order using Oracle for all products.
If you have a need to have a NHSSC product added to the Oracle catalogue please raise a Catalog New request using the Alemba link on Oracle and specify the NPC requested to be added.

Please continue to order NHSSC products using the NPC code in the Oracle catalogue. If a product needs to be added please use the Alemba link on the Oracle home page to raise a Catalog New Request or create a non-catalogue Purchase Requisition whilst this is happening.
