Now live: Barts Health Data Platform
The Barts Health Data Platform is now live, providing secure, large-scale data access to support research, innovation, and improved patient outcomes.
Whether you are an academic, clinician, pharmaceutical organisation, health technology company, or part of the wider research community, our uniquely rich dataset can help advance your work.
The platform enables approved users to access de-identified data from over two million patient records, representing one of the most diverse and multicultural populations in the UK.
Focussing on improving outcomes, tackling health inequalities, and developing treatments and technologies that reflect the populations you serve, our data provides insights from real-world populations, helping to drive more equitable and effective healthcare solutions.
The platform supports a wide range of research and innovation activity, including:
- Clinical and academic research studies
- Population health analysis
- AI and digital health development
- Evaluation of treatments and care pathways
- Identification of patient cohorts for research
- Medical imaging and diagnostic research
All personal details are removed to protect patient privacy, but the clinical information remains, helping us understand diseases better, spot trends, and develop treatments that work for our diverse community.
External organisations can apply to access data through a governed approval process that ensures all projects align with NHS standards, patient confidentiality requirements, and public benefit principles.
For anyone interested in research: turn your clinical questions into actual studies that could change practice.
For our patients: help us develop better, more personalised care based on evidence from people who look like them and live in their community
Since launching in 2025, the platform has already contributed to 19 publications and enabled the Sectra imaging tool, giving researchers new ways to study medical images.
Our breast cancer data recently helped a healthcare technology company develop and validate an AI-powered clinical decision support system which achieved:
- 92% accuracy in treatment matching against NICE guidelines
- 100% adherence to NHS SACT protocol
