The big reveal! Unveiling the new Barts Health Heroes Awards

To recognise and celebrate the exceptional efforts of our outstanding people, we are thrilled to unveil exciting changes to our Barts Health Heroes Awards, introducing new and inspiring categories to honour both individuals and teams.

Engaging with our people and based on feedback from staff, the new award categories aim to elevate recognition and encourage a continued commitment to compassionate care and innovation. We aim for these to not only inspire excellence but also encourage ongoing dedication to providing exceptional care to our patients.

Our new categories are as follows:

For individuals:

  • Living our values: someone demonstrating our WECARE values in everything they do
  • Patients’ choice: nominated by a patient, carer, or member of the public for giving excellent care or enhancing the patient’s experience.
  • People’s choice: nominated by colleagues for going above and beyond.
  • Rising star: an exceptional person who has made an impact.
  • WeLead: a compassionate leader who motivates and influences others.

For teams:

  • Living our values: a team demonstrating our WECARE values in everything it does
  • Innovation and impact: a team that introduced a new idea, process, or treatment to benefit others.
  • Patients’ choice: for providing excellent care or patient experience.
  • WeBelong: collectively endeavour to eliminate discrimination and inequality.
  • WeImprove: a team achieving a significant improvement in its service.

All nominations received to date have been carefully reviewed and allocated to new categories ahead of the shortlisting panel later this year. All finalists will be notified in December if their nomination has been successful in being shortlisted for the Barts Health Heroes Awards ceremony being held in February 2024.

Why not use the new form to nominate a colleague or team for a Barts Health Heroes Award today!
