Prof Hoque appointed in new research and development lead role

Professor Sami Hoque has taken up a new role as the assistant medical director for research and development at the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK.

Prof Hoque is currently a consultant gastroenterologist and Director of Endoscopy at Whipps Cross Hospital, bringing a wealth of knowledge to this new post.

In his new capacity, he will provide strategic oversight and academic leadership for research and development, following a highly competitive selection process.

Reflecting on his appointment, he said: "I am honoured to take on this role. I hope to inspire more clinicians to engage actively in research and contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge."

The Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK brings together three Royal Colleges (London, Edinburgh and Glasgow) and represents over 50,000 doctors.

It runs the MRCP(UK) exams - postgraduate tests doctors must pass to train as hospital specialists - supports specialist training, and provides ongoing education to help doctors maintain high standards.

We wish Prof Hoque all the best in his post alongside his Whipps Cross role duties.
