Helping identify health conditions earlier

Using information from blood and urine tests that patients have already had as part of their routine care, the programme helps identify people who may benefit from earlier assessment or treatment for conditions such as chronic kidney disease (CKD).

By identifying patients earlier, healthcare professionals can recommend treatments and support that may help slow disease progression, improve long-term health outcomes, and reduce the risk of future complications.

Barts Health is one of the first NHS organisations in the country to implement this type of approach at scale, helping more people receive the right care at the right time.

FIND - Why have I received a letter?

If you have received a letter from the FIND Programme, it means that blood or urine test results have suggested you may benefit from a review of your care.

As part of the programme, specialist clinicians review test results and may provide recommendations to your GP based on current national guidance, including guidance from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

Your GP remains responsible for decisions about your care and treatment and will decide whether any changes are appropriate. If your GP believes further action is needed, they will contact you directly.

Receiving a letter does not necessarily mean that your treatment will change.

Do I need to do anything?

No.

You do not need to contact your GP because you have received a FIND Programme letter.

If changes to your care are recommended, your GP practice will contact you. If you have concerns about your health, please contact your GP practice in the usual way.
