Celebrating our nursing, midwifery and AHP colleagues - highlights from the conference

Last week marked Newham Hospital's annual nursing, midwifery and AHP conference with colleagues from across these professions taking part in insightful presentations, workshops and an awards ceremony.

Hosted by Director of Nursing and Governance, Tristram Mills, the theme for this year focussed on how to sustain and enhance our delivery of quality and safety within the hospital and working in partnership across system boundaries within the NHS.

Highlights included:

  • Presentations and showcases from nursing, therapies, pharmacy, maternity and children's services
  • Keynote on recognising and responding to deteriorating patients
  • Session on we have improved patient care through innovation and collaboration. Featuring work from mental health services, delivered with ELFT and Emergency Department teams, alongside the Alcohol Care Team, the session highlighted practical approaches to transforming services and patient experience.
  • A workshop on the UCL Partners Innovation Kickstarter Programme

The conference attracted a diverse multidisciplinary audience, passing through the showcase of interactive educational sessions alongside our posters sharing quality improvements and NMAHP research and innovation.

Feedback from colleagues praised the variation in speakers, and the opportunity to come together and networking.

Special thanks also to our keynote speakers: Orla O’Doherty (UCLPartners Learning and Behaviour Change Lead), Lucy Brock (Director of Education and Organisational Development) and Laura Pisaneschi (Consultant Nurse from East London Foundation NHS Trust) who delivered a session alongside Andrae Gibbons (Senior Nurse for Workforce Development & Professional Standards).
