Syringa Ward praised as a model of compassionate care
Syringa Ward at Whipps Cross Hospital, which specialises in caring for older people, has been praised by a local homecare provider as an example of compassionate, person-centred care.
The recognition comes just weeks after the ward was among five at Whipps Cross to receive a prestigious Gold Standards Framework (GSF) Hallmark Award for excellence in end-of-life care.
GoodOaks Homecare Woodford Green highlighted Syringa Ward in a blog after representatives visited the ward and met staff. They were particularly impressed by the welcoming environment and the passion staff showed when talking about the care they provide.
The blog praised features including the ward's indoor garden, activity table and comfortable day room, which help create a calmer and more homely atmosphere for patients and their families.
Emma Calderon, Ward Manager for Syringa Ward, said the recognition reflects the dedication of the whole team, who work hard to ensure patients receive not only excellent clinical care but also kindness, dignity and respect.
The positive feedback provides independent recognition of the culture that has been developed on the ward and reinforces the findings of the recent GSF assessment.
The ward's recent award success was also featured by the Waltham Forest Echo, helping shine a spotlight on the exceptional care being delivered at Whipps Cross and the difference staff make every day for patients and their families.
