Barts Health reminds everyone to get their second dose of Covid-19 vaccine
Over one million people have now been given at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine across north east London. This is an amazing achievement in such a relatively short amount of time. Congratulations and thank you to all the staff and volunteers who have made this possible.
For all Covid-19 vaccines currently being rolled out in the UK, the recommendation is to have two doses, approximately 12 weeks apart. But some people are yet to make an appointment to have their second dose. That’s why Barts Health are encouraging everyone to ta ke the time to check-in on relatives, friends, neighbours and colleagues to remind them to book an appointment for their second dose of a Covid-19 vaccine when it’s time to do so.
Barts Health are playing a significant role in delivering Covid-19 vaccines to people in east London and beyond. Our hospital vaccination hubs have collectively delivered over 55,000 doses of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine , including 26,638 second doses. And the NHS Covid-19 vaccination centre, Newham at ExCeL London has delivered over 85,000 first and second doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine. In addition, countless other organisations across London have vaccinate doses to thousands more individuals .
Nevertheless, many people are still to be fully vaccinated with two d oses in east London. By working with local partners, councils, schools, faith groups and other organisations and providing accurate information and addressing vaccine hesitancy and concerns, we hope to further increase vaccine uptake in east London and beyond – for both first and second doses.
So this coming week, why not take 2 minutes to check-in on your loved ones who are eligible to receive a vaccine and remind them to book in for both doses of their Covid-19 vaccine. A simple check-in could save a life.
