Channel 4 News reports from Barts Health amid peak winter pressures

This week we welcomed Channel 4 News to The Royal London Hospital during the busiest time of year for the NHS.

News Correspondent Ayshah Tull spent time with our operational and clinical teams, seeing first-hand how staff make real-time decisions to balance rising demand, bed availability and patient safety in one of London’s busiest hospital trusts.

This visit took place during our “reset week”, a dedicated period when teams come together across the hospital to reinforce everyone’s role in supporting patients, from admission through to safe and timely discharge.

Using a digital 'command centre' dashboard, our teams can keep track of patients in almost real time, with a snapshot view of how many patinets are awaiting admission, and beds occupancy.

While our hospitals are extremely busy, patient safety continues to be our highest priority.

We are grateful to our staff for their continued professionalism and commitment, and to our patients and visitors for their patience and understanding during this challenging period.
