Barts Health staff recognised in Queen’s birthday honours

Two of our colleagues have been recognised in the Queen’s birthday honours list.

Dr Ian Basnett, Director of Public Health, has been awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to public health.

Dr Satya Bhattacharya, a consultant general surgeon at Royal London Hospital and Serjeant-Surgeon to Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Household, has also been made a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order (LVO).

Dr Bhattacharya, a renowned expert on pancreatic and liver disease, has worked for Barts Health for seventeen years. He first joined the Royal Household in 2006.

CEO Alwen Williams took to Twitter to congratulate both doctors on their fantastic achievements.
