Diabetes awareness week: Tower Hamlets Together event a success

The Tower Hamlets Together event was a great celebration of services provided for Tower Hamlets.

The Diabetes Care Centre stall had resources showcasing their well-established services and new additions this year. Our diabetes structured education programme is award-winning and provides education to patients across Tower Hamlets in both English and Bengali.

New this year, we provide structured education for patients with Type 1 diabetes. One of our dietitians Joseph Carvell worked with clinical psychologist Dr Amy-Kate Hurrell to write information leaflets for people who are homeless with Type 2 diabetes, a huge health and social issue in Tower Hamlets. These are available to read and download.

The stall was manned by a team of diabetes specialist nurses, dietitians and diabetes educators. It was a great networking event, and we would like to thank Diabetes UK for their support with resources for the stall. We look forward to next year!
