Join our hospital boards as a medical director
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our hospital executive boards as a medical director. As a senior leader on our hospital executive boards, you will have a track record of:
- senior clinical leadership and management in the NHS and/or a hospital environment
- accountability for clinical governance and of the measures to ensure patient safety
- partnership working
- innovation
- managing and developing staff
- addressing poor performance
- achieving financial targets
The posts are now available as our current medical directors have come to the end of their tenures. Simon Harrod and Ed Rowland have also decided to retire.

“At no time has the role of medical director been more important than during the past two years. Their leadership during this time has been superb - we are grateful and wish them well in their next endeavours.”
Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust is also advertising for a new chief medical officer.
Candidates for all five of these roles are encouraged to apply for more than one of the vacancies, ranking them in order of personal preference. We will construct the selection process, which enables consideration for all the roles applied for, considering preferences wherever possible.
