Our hospitals recognised in global specialist rankings
Barts Health has been recognised across eight specialties in a global ranking of the world's leading hospitals.
St Bartholomew’s Hospital and The Royal London Hospital feature in Newsweek and Statista’s 2027 World’s Best Specialised Hospitals rankings, appearing alongside some of the world's most recognised healthcare organisations.
St Bartholomew’s was ranked among the UK's top 10 hospitals in five specialties, placing second for cardiology and endocrinology, third for cardiac surgery, sixth for cancer care and seventh for respiratory medicine.
The Royal London Hospital was ranked ninth in the UK for both paediatrics and gastroenterology, and 12th for cancer care.
Together, the two hospitals were recognised in eight of the 13 specialist areas assessed, underlining the breadth and quality of specialist care provided by Barts Health for patients in east London and beyond.
The recognition comes as the Trust continues to invest in and develop its specialist services through its 2025-30 clinical strategy, which sets out plans to improve outcomes, expand access to care and meet the changing needs of patients.
The rankings compare specialist hospital services around the world, including those provided by private healthcare organisations.
Scores are based primarily on recommendations from healthcare professionals, which account for more than three-quarters of the overall assessment. Additional factors include hospital accreditations and patient experience measures.
The methodology was developed with advice from an international panel of clinical experts and healthcare leaders, with data collected and analysed over the 12 months to July 2026.
