Shereen appointed group director of midwifery

Sheeren Nimmo

Shereen Nimmo has been appointed group director of midwifery for Barts Health, and will join the Trust on 16 May 2022.

Shereen is currently the divisional director of midwifery, nursing, AHPs and quality at North Middlesex Hospital. Previously, Shereen worked at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust as a labour ward matron, before moving to Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust as a lead midwife for the Trust’s community midwifery provision. Following this, Shereen moved to North Middlesex, initially as the Trust’s head of midwifery, then into the role of divisional director; looking after women’s, children’s, cancer, diagnostics, HIV and sexual health services.

Shereen has recently been accepted on to a Florence Nightingale leadership scholarship programme where she intends to learn more about reducing the differences in health outcomes for women and babies from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.

On her appointment Shereen commented:

I'm really excited to be joining Barts Health in May. I think of myself as a stick of rock, if you cut me in half there's midwife written through the middle of me.

Moving into this group director role will allow me once again to focus on delivering the highest quality of care to our communities, and ensuring mothers and babies using the services provided at Barts Health have the safest and highest quality outcomes, with birth experiences they will treasure.
