A dedicated centre for breast cancer care at St Bartholomew’s Hospital

Bringing faster diagnosis, advanced treatment and more personalised care

Our new breast cancer centre of excellence at St Bartholomew’s Hospital is now open, offering specialist care for thousands of women each year.

With support from Barts Charity, the centre, which is based across our Smithfield and Giltspur wings, brings together surgery, reconstruction, diagnostics and outpatient care under one roof — making it easier to access the right care, at the right time.

Designed to reduce delays and improve outcomes, it offers women faster diagnosis, safer surgery and fairer access to leading treatments and clinical trials. As part of our wider cancer services, it reflects our commitment to improving survival and quality of life for everyone affected by cancer.

The breast cancer team made my journey much easier

“Being diagnosed with breast cancer was incredibly hard, but the care I received from everyone made it so much easier.

"From the reception to the doctors and nurses, everyone was warm, welcoming and knew exactly how to look after me. I wasn’t just a number. They remembered my name, even when I came back 18 months later. That personal touch meant so much.

"Special thanks to nurses like Betsy and Anita, who made me feel truly seen, understood and supported.”
