Miss Lopez-Marco graduated in Medicine from the University of Valencia in 2005. She completed two National Training Programmes: Cardiovascular Surgery in Barcelona, Spain (Hospital de Bellvitge) 2006-2011 and Cardiothoracic Surgery in the Wales Deanery (University Hospital of Wales and Morriston Hospital) 2014-2020.
She was awarded the SCTS Ethicon National Fellowship and invested for further training in Complex Aortic Surgery at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. She was appointed as Consultant Cardiac and Aortic Surgeon in Barts in September 2020.
Miss Lopez-Marco is also double board certified (RCS Ed and EBCTS) and holds a PhD degree from the University of Barcelona.
Miss Lopez-Marco is very active in clinical research with a special interest in improving clinical outcomes. She has authored over 30 publications and presented in multiple national and international forums.
She has co-led a multicentre in the UK to evaluate the impact of the COVID pandemic in access to treatment for Aortovascular conditions.
Miss Lopez-Marco is currently working as patients advocate in increasing awareness of aortic dissection and improving clinical pathways to guarantee better outcomes.
She successfully manages the social media advertising for the Aortic Surgery Service at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

I have always had an interest in clinical research, aiming to improve surgical outcomes and improve patient’s quality of life. I hold MD and PhD degrees from the University of Barcelona and I have published over 30 scientific articles as first author as well as presented several oral presentations and posters in both national and international meetings.
