The Barts Health immunology service is one of the UK’s leading specialist centres, caring for patients with a wide range of immune disorders from across London, Essex and the rest of the country. We specialise in the care of patients with antibody deficiencies and hereditary angioedema.

Advice is available to healthcare professionals 24 hours a day, seven days a week by ringing the hospital switchboard (020 354 5000) and asking for the on-call immunologist.
At the Grahame Hayton Unit, many of our patients only visit us three or four times a year. During these appointments, we make sure that they are healthy, and check that any drug therapy is still working for them.
Clinics take place every week, on a Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning, at the Grahame Hayton Unit.

Our day care ward provides a facility to care for patients who require particular treatments, but not necessarily need admission to hospital.
Examples of such day treatments include blood transfusions, intravenous antibiotics, immunoglobulin replacement infusions, C1-Inhibitor replacement, maintenance medication infusions or time intensive investigations such as biopsies. Treatments in the day unit are provided by our nursing team, with cover provided by our Immunology doctors.
We have three beds and three reclining chairs for your comfort. We can provide you with hot and cold beverages throughout your stay on the day ward and a sandwich snack pack for lunch.

Barts Health immunology service is one of the largest in the UK.
We have a special interest and expertise in managing hereditary angioedema and other angioedemas - receiving referrals from all over the UK and the world.
We care for one of the largest number of patients with antibody deficiencies in the UK – these include common variable immune deficiency (CVID), X-linked agammaglobulinaemia (XLA), specific antibody deficiencies, selective IgA deficiency, IgG subclass deficiencies, neutrophil disorders and ataxia telangiectasia.
We pride ourselves at putting patients at the centre of their care and offer options for treatment both at hospital or home.
We are actively involved in clinical research projects and clinical trials to help improve knowledge and treatments for patients with angioedemas and antibody deficiencies.
