Dr Filip Zemrak
Consultant at St Bartholomew's HospitalDr Zemrak completed his undergraduate medical training in Lodz, Poland. He has over 16 years of experience in medicine and cardiology in the UK, where he moved after obtaining the medical degree in 2006. He completed the specialist Cardiology Training in North-East London and was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist in 2020.
He has a particular interest in healthcare management, quality improvement and clinical governance. He was a Darzi Fellow, during which he was working on improving heart failure services in East London. The European Society of Cardiology recently awarded him a grant to complete a master’s degree in health economics at the London School of Economics.
He has established innovative services at St Bartholomew’s Hospital such as, a new anticoagulation service and a heart function clinic for patients with congenital conditions.
He continues active participation in clinical research, quality and safety improvement and clinical governance.

Research interests
Dr Zemrak has robust research experience. He obtained a PhD in Cardiovascular Sciences from the Queen Mary University of London in 2017. During his PhD, which focused on a rare heart muscle disease (cardiomyopathy), he worked in London and the National Institutes of Health in the United States. He co-authored over 35 scientific articles in cardiology and cardiovascular sciences.
