Consultant at St Bartholomew's Hospital
Prof.Mark Westwood was educated at St Johns College, Oxford and St Bartholomews Hospital, London. He is an expert in cardiac MRI (CMR) and Cardiac CT (CTCA) assessment of the heart. He was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at the London Chest Hospital in 2008 where he was lead clinician for CMR. He set up, led and developed from scratch the CMR service into one of the largest UK CMR services. In 2015 he moved to Barts Heart Centre at St Bartholomews Hospital where he has jointly formed the largest CMR service in the UK and one of the largest CMR services in Europe.
Prof. Mark Westwood is a previous President of the British Society of CMR (BSCMR). He was a previous chair of the Certification and Accreditation Committee of the European Society of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI), and is now the Vice President Elect of the CMR section of EACVI, representing CMR across Europe.
Prof. Mark Westwood has a strong interest in training and education. He is the Director of Education at Barts Heart Centre, responsible for the training and education of all staff. He was the previous lead for the North and East London regional training programme in cardiology which is one of the highest ranked training programmes in cardiology in the UK. He was also a previous President of the Cardiology SAC, the national training body in UK.
