Help shape local hospital care

Are you, or someone you care for, a patient at The Royal London or Mile End hospitals? Do you feel passionate about high quality health care?

If you have a few hours to spare each month Barts Health would like to hear from you to help improve the care it provides.

Hospital staff are calling on local people to join a new Patient Panel to help identify how to improve the experience for patients coming into the hospital and their families.

The new panel comes during a period of ambitious progress which has seen the Care Quality Commission (CQC) improve its rating of The Royal London from ‘inadequate’ to ‘requires improvement’. The hospital now wants local people to help to achieve even more for patients.

Michael Moeller, Associate Director of Nursing at The Royal London Hospital and Patient and Public Involvement and Experience Lead, said: “We are on an exciting improvement journey. With health care at the heart of the community, we want local people to help us to put their experience central to our improvement plans.

“By joining our Patient Panel you will make sure that your voice is heard. Tell us about what we are getting right, as well as work with us to make things better and shape your local health services.”

Chairperson, Charlie Ladyman, explained: “There are a range of roles in which you can get involved; from meeting the hospitals’ leadership team and attending staff listening events to carrying out hospital assessments. Please do get in touch.”

The hospitals would like to hear from people who have received emergency, inpatient or outpatient care at The Royal London or Mile End in the last 12 months, or are caring for someone who has. Please contact the Barts Health NHS Trust volunteering office on 020 3765 8896 for further information.
