Rachael spent three years as chief nurse for the NHS integrated care board for Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire West before joining Barts Health NHS Trust.
She has previously worked in a variety of executive nursing leadership roles in different healthcare organisations, including leading the response to the Covid-19 pandemic in East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust.
Early in her nursing career Rachael was a specialist in tissue viability. She has worked in both hospital and community settings, run education and training for nurses and midwives, led large-scale clinical transformation initiatives, and run workforce development programs.
Rachael is a Florence Nightingale Foundation scholar, a visiting senior clinical Fellow at the University of Hertfordshire and has published research in the nursing literature. As a champion for the profession, she is also a trustee of the Burdett Nursing Trust, a charity whose grants empower nurses to make improvements to patient care environment.
