Consultant and visiting professor at Whipps Cross Hospital

Professor Green is network director for urological surgery for all five sites in Barts Health NHS Trust and North East London. He qualified from The Royal London Hospital and undertook post graduate research in Wales and in the USA (Ann Arbour and Boston). He trained in London, America, Hong Kong and Paris. His interests range from paediatric urology to uro-geriatrics and he led the NE London Pelvic Cancer Centre and chaired the reorganisation of NE London paediatric surgical services.

He is world expert on teamworking in healthcare and in quality improvement and education. With his research he collaborates with many universities; UEL, Imperial, UCH, Goldsmiths, LSBU, Kings, UEA, Surrey as well as internationally. He has published over 95 peer reviewed research papers and many book chapter (Scopus score 19). He was visiting Professor at London South Bank University in Health Service Research and is currently visiting Professor in Health Service and Population Research at Kings College, London.

Treatments and procedures

All aspects of urological cancer care from diagnosis to treatment and Integrated care for benign urological conditions ranging from paediatrics to geriatrics, using multidisciplinary teams.

Research interests

  • He is world expert on teamworking in healthcare and in quality improvement education. With his research he collaborates with many universities; Kings College, UEL, Imperial, UCH, Goldsmiths, LSBU, UEA, Surrey as well as internationally.
  • He has published over 115 peer reviewed research papers and many book chapter (Scopus score 25).
  • He was visiting Professor at London South Bank University in Health Service Research and is currently visiting Professor in Health Service and Population Research at Kings College, London. 
  • Currently he is improving the care of testicular torsion by developing teaching program for schools on common paediatric emergencies and standardising care of testicular conditions throughout the UK (www.testicularhealth.info ). 

Leadership roles

  • His main interests involve patient safety and in constantly improving patient care. He has designed award-winning IT platforms to help clinical teams improve and develop (MDT FIT, TEAM, MDT MOT, MDT QuiC, ATLAS and TEAM QI ).
  • He has also designed prize-winning apps to help patients communicate with their doctors (my waterworks and my bladder problem).
  • He advises NHS England on multidisciplinary teamworking, and prostate cancer and clinically led a CRUK team to improve cancer care by re-evaluating cancer multidisciplinary team working https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/sites/default/files/full_report_meeting_patients_needs_improving_the_effectiveness_of_multidisciplinary_team_meetings_.pdf ) and he works closely with the cancer charities; Cancer Research UK and Cancer 52.
