Dr Mehrtens graduated in Medicine in 2010 from the University of Manchester with Honours. She also undertook an intercalated BSc in Leeds in 2009, which was awarded with 1st class Honours and the Nuffield Centre Prize for Academic Achievement. She completed her core medical training in central London hospitals and her dermatology specialist training in Kent, which included an honorary fellowship at St Johns Institute of Dermatology. She has been working at Barts Health NHS Trust as a Dermatology Consultant since September 2020. She consults in all skin conditions and skin surgery, and has a sub-specialty interest in medical dermatology. She has multiple publications in high impact factor journals and has also presented extensively at national and international conferences. She teaches regularly at an undergraduate and postgraduate level and is the Trainee Lead at Whipps Cross Hospital.
