We are having a PARTY!

In my first newsletter in May (already!) I want to talk about the Group Model changes and a key RLH&ME leadership change and also share our exciting timetable for Wednesday 8th May which is our Good to be Green celebration.
Earlier this week in Take5 Alwen shared an update regarding the Barts Health Group model changes as we evolve and mature as an organisation. The developments are about taking everything that is good about being part of a large group model that delivers a wide range of care covering many specialties to a large population. In addition we want to ensure that our Hospital Executive Boards are able to take decisions locally that benefit our patients and staff. The changes mean that we will be given more autonomy within our hospitals while enjoying the benefits of being part of Barts Health.
For The Royal London and Mile End teams I hope that it will mean that we can streamline processes so that we can make decisions more quickly. With autonomy comes responsibility and we need to demonstrate that we can continue to improve in quality and performance terms and manage the money! As part of the changes, senior roles will change and from 1st May my role became Chief Executive Officer for The Royal London and Mile End Hospitals, a role I am honoured to hold. Alwen became a Group Chief Executive.
This week I regret to announce that Dan Gibbs our Director of Operations is moving on to be a Chief Operating Officer at Buckingham Healthcare NHS Trust. Congratulations Dan. Director of Operations is a tough job at The Royal London and Dan is a hard act to follow. We will be advertising on NHS jobs this week. If you are interested in applying then do come and speak to myself or Damian McGuiness our Associate Director of People. The role will be advertised as Director of Operations and Transformation.
On Wednesday 8th May we are having a PARTY!! The day is a celebration of the fantastic changes and improvements that the CQC saw when they inspected our hospital last year and rated 80% of our services Good or Outstanding. The day is about celebration and fun but also an opportunity to show our patients and our colleagues the great work that we are doing. The programme for the day is below and please do wear green, come and join us all throughout the day, and enter our competitions for best dressed person, team and department.
In true tradition there will be speeches, cake and music. What more do you need for a good party?
