Chief Finance Officer takes early retirement

Our Chief Finance Officer, Chrisha Alagaratnam, has announced she will be taking early retirement this summer.

Chrisha has worked in the NHS for over 20 years and joined the Trust as a turnaround expert when we went into special measures in 2015. She was appointed Chief Finance Officer in June 2015 after Alwen Williams took over as Chief Executive, and spearheaded the gradual financial recovery that has underpinned our improvement journey.

Chrisha said: "It has been a privilege to work with such dedicated colleagues throughout the Trust. I am sorry not to have been able to take part in the celebrations of our recent success."

Alwen said: “We owe Chrisha a huge debt of gratitude for her leadership of the finance team and their work to put the Trust finances into better shape. I will personally miss her wise counsel and loyal comradeship. We wish her the very best in the future.”

Bill Boa, who originally joined us as independent financial improvement director for NHS Improvement, will continue as Acting CFO. Meanwhile, Martin Smith from the financial special measures team at NHSI will join us shortly as our new financial improvement director.
