“Winning a Barts Health Heroes award has given us extra motivation to make a difference to patient care.”

The nuclear medicine and radiopharmacy team at St Bartholomew’s Hospital won the Welcoming award at the Barts Health Heroes Awards Ceremony held on 9 May 2022.

With our 8 February 23 award ceremony nominations deadline coming to a close at the end of September, we caught up with Rohit Tiwari, cross-site operational lead for nuclear medicine and PET CT services.

"Winning an award was a pleasant surprise. My team and I were happy that we got nominated which itself felt like a good achievement, considering the number of staff and teams at the trust!" said Rohit.

"To actually win the award was a very special feeling."

Winning the award has given us extra motivation to look for more ways to improve on some of the other areas where we can make a difference to patient care, and continue to tailor our service response to our patients' needs.

Nuclear medicine team When asked how attending the Barts Health Heroes Awards Ceremony felt, Rohit said:

"Getting to attend the evening was really special with the welcome drinks, great food, and everyone coming together."

"It was great getting to hear from our former group chief executive, Dame Alwen Williams, for all the work she has done and the leadership she has provided over the years. It was also very memorable getting to meet our new group chief executive, Shane DeGaris, who is young and dynamic."

Rohit was also keen to share that although winning an award was amazing, the team does not provide any service to their patients with the intention of anything other than providing a top-class healthcare experience.

Winning an award is not the goal. Winning hearts is.
