Joe McQuillan appointed as new group director of AHPs

Joe McQuillan, clinical director for dentistry, OMFS and ophthalmology, has been appointed as our new group director of allied health professionals. He starts in the role on 1 November, succeeding Rachel Dalton, who held the role as our first director of AHPs for the past four years.

Joe, also our head orthoptist, has been working at the trust for over 15 years and brings with him a wealth of operational and strategic experience gained in a variety of general manager and clinical director roles.

“I am very excited to get started in the role and meet our AHP and psychology teams, as well as the wider hospital leadership teams. I have been lucky to have been given many opportunities whilst at Barts Health to develop my career and I am keen to ensure others have the support I had to meet their potential, grow their careers, and ensure we are delivering the best possible care to our patients. AHPs have a huge impact across the NHS through leadership, clinical excellence and research and education and I will build on the excellent work Rachel has achieved."

Adrian Flynn, associate director for nursing and allied health professionals at Whipps Cross, will be providing interim support on a part time basis until Joe starts.
