Offers of support and tokens of gratitude

We'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who has donated items to support our staff. To recognise their support we’ve rounded up some of the wonderful ways organisations have come together to offer their support and tokens of gratitude to our staff.

  • CakeBox delivered fresh and handmade cakes to staff to keep them going during their long shifts.
  • Local primary schools have made beautiful cards with lovely messages from children voicing their support for NHS Heroes.
  • Michael the taxi driver (local to Newham Hospital) has offered free cab rides to NHS staff, helping out several nurses by helping them get to their shifts on time.
  • A number of individuals have offered properties where staff can stay during the pandemic so they don’t have to risk spreading the infection to their families.
  • Chocolate pioneer Godiva UK has sent a number of chocolate hampers to staff across our trust to give thanks for everything they do to provide care for the people we look after.
  • James Fox Creative Illustration provided free design artwork to help us update staff on new PPE guidance.
  • TK Maxx thoughtfully sent many packages of much needed groceries.
  • Tesco arranged for the delivery of 100 Krispy Kremes.
  • Dishoom prepared a delicious and much needed hot lunch for staff to enjoy on their breaks.
  • Goldman Sachs delivered a large amount of PPE equipment and sportswear company Decathlon donated goggles too.
  • There was food deliveries from Nando's, Costa Coffee, Pret, Sheesh Chigwell, the charity Suppoting Humanity, and even baby monitors from Argos!

In fact, it would take forever to list them all with many, many more treats and goodies delivered from the likes of Signorelli London, 4thfloorstudios, Fugitive models, Hovis, Ottolenghi and more.

There have been further offers of support from both big companies, small businesses and even individual residents all wanting to help staff in any way they can. We're very grateful to you for all your kind offers, thank you.

We have an empty one bed flat in Mile End Road opposite Stepney Green Tube Station. Might it be useful for any NHS staff who need to stay close to the hospital? Please let me know. Jocelyn Ridley

I am a local resident and our community hub is discussing the best ways to show our appreciation and help for all NHS staff at whipps. People want to help directly but where and what should they bring? Is that what u want? Everyone is concerned about spreading the virus and wandering in with trays of cakes etc. Where would you take them?
Is there a central point to which stuff should be taken or someone to whom offers such as accommodation should be made?

We are a group of people in Highams Park London E4 and would like to set up a sewing group to make scrubs for your staff. Could you please let us know who we contact to do this.

I am really very proud of all these goodwill from the various companies donating to our wellbeing during this time of crisis. Thank you all for appreciating what we do now and have always done for our patients.
