The Guardian Service's promotional film has won gold at the EVCOM London Live and Film awards

The Guardian Service's promotional film “How does it feel when you are not heard”  won gold at the recent EVCOM London Live and Film awards.

The Guardian Service is a completely confidential conversation for staff to speak up and raise concerns that is operated by an external and independent organisation. This is a safe and non-judgemental way to talk through any work-related issues with a Freedom to Speak Up Guardian.

With the arrival of the pandemic and the institution of the travel ban, instructions to work from home and the general uncertainty that in-person meetings were generating, the Guardians teams were immediately restricted from being on-site. The need to find alternative means of communication became apparent and staff needed to be reminded of the availability 24/7.

Simon MacRory, CEO of The Guardian Service said: “We believed a film/video promoting the service would be useful and set about finding a production company that could help us. At that juncture, we did not know what the video would contain other than it was to promote our service to staff. “

Following a review of the Guardian Service website and a one-hour discussion, The Edge Picture company and their creative minds went to work and they came up with the idea and script behind the video -  “it is about something that happened at work today”.

“When I saw the final product, evoked a strong emotional reaction in me, and still does each time I view it."

“To win the gold medal at the EVCOM awards was the icing on the cake. One judge called the film “beautifully conceived and directed”. We loved the final film, we believed that it was on message and the winning of gold means that we know that we have a film that promotes our brand and helps maintain staff awareness of our service."

“Winning gold is a public and professional recognition of its strength of message.”
