Read our stories from critical care

Meet Tibor, assistant practitioner, WXH

Joining the team was one of the best decisions of my life. Critical care is very challenging, but it’s also been a great opportunity to learn new things and gain new skills. The critical care team at Whipps Cross are brilliant and I have learned a lot from them.

Meet Shirlyn, admin assistant for ICU, WXH

The thing I like the most about working at Whipps Cross intensive care is the teams dynamic and its diversity. Our management team are very supportive, especially during the pandemic which made me feel valued as a member of the team.

Meet Sarah, band 6 nurse, RLH

I joined ITU during the merge of the old Royal London building to the new site. Coming from a HDU background, my first year was predominantly spent training and upskilling, during which I had incredible support from our PDNs and senior staff who took an active role in my band 5 development and my progression to my current band 6 role.

Meet Shujina, band 6 nurse, RLH

I was looking to improve my ITU skills and felt encouraged by colleagues and senior staff to progress in my career and have recently joined the team substantively as a band 6.

Meet Charles, band 5 nurse, RLH

I came from a HDU background, so some aspects of ITU patient care were familiar, but a lot was new to me.
