New Carers Hub opens at Whipps Cross Hospital

Although it may be part of your everyday life, caring for someone can be rewarding, but also very challenging. It can take a toll on your physical and emotional health as well as your personal life.

The Whipps Cross Carers Hub is here to provide advice, information and support to carers aged 18 and over who care for someone, whether they are a patient at Whipps Cross Hospital or in the community. We will be running sessions for three different groups of carers:

All carers: Every Tuesday, 16:00-17:00

Male carers only (with Men’s Shed): fourth Thursday of the month, 16:00-17:00

Carers who are NHS Barts Health staff or work for other health and social care organisations: first, second, and third Thursday of the month, 16:00-17:00

The hub will offer a range of services, advice, and information, including:

  • A chance for carers to meet and share ideas
  • Help with getting carer information
  • Special events including on Carers’ Rights Day
  • Carers’ assessments
  • Opportunity to develop the Carers Hub

Location
Margaret Centre Education Block, Whipps Cross Hospital Road, adjacent to Connaught Day Unit

Getting here
The venue is close to the Whipps Cross A&E bus stop near James Lane. There is cycle parking throughout the hospital. The closest bike racks are near M&S. We can offer subsidised vouchers for car parking. These are usually restricted to one per family.

We also have a parking space next to the Woodlands Day Unit entrance for emergency use and pick up/drop off.  Please speak to a member of the hub who will be happy to help you with parking.
