Celebrating some of our Barts Health Heroes nominees
Over 150 team and individual Barts Health Heroes nominees were celebrated at a lunch on 7 July. Guests were also treated to birthday cupcakes to celebrate during the week of NHS74.

We heard from a few nominees who spoke about how much receiving a Barts Health Heroes Award nomination meant to them.
Although all nominators remain anonymous, Emily Huntingford, intensive care nurse at St Bartholomew’s Hospital knew exactly who nominated her after receiving her nomination.
“It was a real honour to receive my nomination from a family after I nursed their relative at the end of his life. It made me feel proud of the work we do. It was a lovely opportunity to hear about the inspiring things our colleagues are doing in the trust, and the lunch was delicious!”
Other nominees spoke of their joy of receiving a nomination.
“We all work very hard to support our colleagues and patients and I am delighted this has been recognised. All of these make me so proud to be part of Barts Health.”
“I was extremely honoured and humble to attend the lunch ceremony, to receive the nomination of ‘a wonderful manager of the tuberculosis team’. It was an incredible recognition for Newham’s chest clinic. Thank you.”
The queues to chat and get a photo with Dame Alwen Williams at the end of the lunch was a sight to behold. With Alwen stepping down as our group chief executive, it was the perfect opportunity for her to thank staff for all that has been achieved together as #TeamBarts.
Our fingers are crossed for all nominees. Shortlisting will take place towards the end of the year, with finalists invited to our Barts Health Heroes Awards Ceremony in February 2023.
