Barts Health appoints interim group people director

We are delighted to announce that Raj Bhamber will join the Trust next month as our interim group director of people.

Raj is currently the national lead for engaging and supporting people leaders and human resource directors at NHS England and NHS Improvement.

She has held a variety of executive director and board level roles in health authorities and foundation trusts. She was previously director of people and organisational development in the Hertfordshire and West Essex system, initially at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust and latterly at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust.

Raj will join us as we enter the next phase of our response to the pandemic, which puts a premium on enabling staff to rest and recuperate as we balance the ongoing requirements of managing Covid-19, our ambition to accelerate transformation, and the need to restore services put on hold.

Raj Bhamber said: “It is a real honour and privilege to join Barts Health NHS Trust with your inspiring vision, shared WeCare values, and the WeImprove approach to continuous improvement.”

“I am really looking forward to working with you all to deliver our ambition to make Barts Health a great, diverse and inclusive place to work, for everyone.”

Raj will start work on April 6 and succeed Michael Pantlin, who is taking up a new role as director of workforce and digital with the Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care System.

Alwen Williams, group chief executive, said: “On behalf of us all I’d like to welcome Raj to the Barts Health family. I look forward to working with her on the next stage of our people journey to becoming not only a great place to work but also a truly inclusive organisation.”
