The thing I like the most about working at Whipps Cross intensive care is the teams dynamic and its diversity. Our management team are very supportive, especially during the pandemic which made me feel valued as a member of the team.

I joined ITU during the merge of the old Royal London building to the new site. Coming from a HDU background, my first year was predominantly spent training and upskilling, during which I had incredible support from our PDNs and senior staff who took an active role in my band 5 development and my progression to my current band 6 role.

Meet Emily, nurse, SBH

I moved to St Bartholomew’s Hospital or ‘Barts’ nearly 3 years ago. As a student I had no placements in cardiology or cardiothoracic, but I knew I had an interest and wanted to work in the speciality. When I realised Barts was home to the UK’s largest heart centre, providing world-class cardiovascular care for patients and research I knew it was where I wanted to be.
